Avondale Overlook – Great Apartment Rental Complex in Hyattsville Maryland
Avondale Overlook. Sounds like a great place to live—and it is! This complex has 11 floors and is walking distance to NE DC and you can even jog to Fort Totten if you’re a runner. The neighborhood is full of big beautiful homes and its not as busy as say downtown DC.
The apartments have a massive amount of floor space, but minimal closet room. The kitchens were also more like kitchenettes…I couldn’t see more than one person cooking or being in there at a time. Studios are about $950, and 3BR apartm ents go up to $1,800. They had one of the highest application fees I think I saw in all my searching, but its worth it to be that close to DC without the DC crime rate. The other great thin g is that utilities are included, so you get even more bang for your buck! For a fee of $300-$500 you can have a cat or very small dog. The West Hyattsville Metro (Green Line) is about half a mile away, but there are 3 buses that stop right in front of the apartment and all of them go to DC.
There isn’t a great amount of parking and the gym is not 24 hours…(the gym is also in the basement where bugs tend to be and it had a few people just watching tv in their jeans, sitting idly on bike machines rather than actually working out.) There are two laundry rooms on each floor, but they’re $2.00 to wash and $2.00 to dry…that seemed a little high. (The young lady who showed me the apartment let me know that there was a laundry in walking distance where you could wash twice the amount for half the price)
I give this apartment 8.5 out of 10.
